Our friends in Greensky Bluegrass were kind enough to take some time out of an idyllic afternoon during Yonder Mountain String Band’s Kinfolk Celebration [Editor’s Note:  Read our review here] at Planet Bluegrass in August to play a two song acoustic set exclusively for Listen Up Denver!, Marquee Magazineand a few friends.  We tucked ourselves in along the river behind the stage, rolled tape, and them do their thing.  The first song we released is a great new song called “Leap Year” [Editor’s Note: you can watch that one here], and the second is an incredible cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Atlantic City” that pays tribute to The Band’s version while still seeming fresh and original.  Get your tickets now for Greensky’s October shows at The Fox (on the 18th) and The Bluebird (the 19th and 20th) approach.  You never know, we may be throwing a little pre-party for the Denver shows . . . stay tuned for more information on that . . .

Music has always been a part of my life. It probably all started listening to old Grateful Dead, Peter Paul & Mary, and Simon & Garfunkel records that my parents had, but it wasn't long before they were taking me to concerts like Starship, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Huey Lewis & The News. I got the bug to write about music after reviewing an Eric Clapton concert for a creative writing project in high school but didn't really take it up seriously until 2002. Since then I have published countless articles in The Marquee Magazine and done some work for Jambase.com, SPIN Magazine, and various other outlets. I started Listen Up Denver! as a way to share the music information that is constantly spilling out of my head with people who care. Please enjoy!
