Why You Should Go: The Civil Wars’ exclusive live digital EP, iTunes Live: SXSW, is #1 on iTunes’ Singer Songwriter chart and #16 on iTunes’ overall Albums chart. This success is just the latest achievement for the break-out duo, whose full-length record, Barton Hollow, debuted at #12 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on iTunes’ overall Albums chart earlier this year (Sensibility Music). In celebration of the record, the duo continues to tour nationwide, including sold-out shows in Nashville, Birmingham, Atlanta, Charlotte, Washington D.C, New York, Boston and Dallas. Additionally, the duo recently made their SXSW debut, performing at numerous events, including parties for fashion designer Billy Reid & American Songwriter, IFC, CNN, Paste Magazine and Rachael Ray. Of their festival appearance, American Songwriter declares, “…an organic, atmospheric set of songs that butterfly net the range of desire, decay of same and devastation, are everything American Songwriter stands for.”

Music has always been a part of my life. It probably all started listening to old Grateful Dead, Peter Paul & Mary, and Simon & Garfunkel records that my parents had, but it wasn't long before they were taking me to concerts like Starship, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Huey Lewis & The News. I got the bug to write about music after reviewing an Eric Clapton concert for a creative writing project in high school but didn't really take it up seriously until 2002. Since then I have published countless articles in The Marquee Magazine and done some work for Jambase.com, SPIN Magazine, and various other outlets. I started Listen Up Denver! as a way to share the music information that is constantly spilling out of my head with people who care. Please enjoy!
