Why You Should Go: Eddie Roberts, guitarist of UK Funk band The New Mastersounds, decided to start a series of benefit concerts to focus on various homeless issues in the US. Having lived for a period of time in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco and feeling a real sense of connection and community, he was personally touched by the homeless situation, including the ignorance of the reality surrounding the issue. Eddie decided to join his music with artists and organizations that are working to make a difference in the lives of others.

For the Denver edition of “The Payback” Eddie will be backed up by quite the supporting cast in Zigaboo Modeliste (The Meters), Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers Band), Robert Walter (Greyboy Allstars), Mike Dillon (Garage A Trois) with Gabe Mervine and Matt Pitts of The Motet. You can meet this incredible band at “Chef Ed’s High Country Boil” at Park House on Saturday afternoon.  Enjoy an all you can eat Crawfish Boil with Beer included from Lagunitas for $35.  Tickets available at www.eddierobertspayback.com

After a very successful weekend of shows in San Francisco this past September where The Payback raised $26k for Compass Family Services; an organization dedicated to supporting San Francisco’s vulnerable and homeless families. Working together with Denver’s Road Home and Denver Public Schools Foundation, Eddie has put together a weekend of music to benefit Denver’s 2,000 school children currently identified as homeless.

Nate Todd

Nate Todd was born on the central plains of Nebraska, but grew up on the high plains of the Texas panhandle. With not much to do in either place, music was his constant companion. His parents dubbed the first two albums he ever owned onto a tape for him. Side A was Bert and Ernie’s Sing Along. Side B was Sgt. Peppers. His lifelong love affair with music started early as he practically grew up in a Rock & Roll band, with his father and uncle often taking him out on the road or into the studio with them. Nate began performing live at sixteen and hasn’t looked back, having played in numerous bands from L.A. to Austin. At the age of twenty he was bitten by the writing bug, and upon moving to Denver decided to pursue a degree from Metropolitan State University where he recently graduated with a B.A. in English and a minor in Cinema Studies.
