BREWGRASS AND BLUES & BREWS

BrewGrass: Saturday, June 13th
Blues & Brews: Saturday, August 8th
1200 Block of South Pearl Street, Denver
Tickets: $5 Walk Up Only

This summer the South Pearl Street Music Festivals return to rock the block with music and craft beer. BrewGrass on June 13, and Blues & Brews on August 8, celebrate summer on the 1200 block of S. Pearl Street in Denver.

BrewGrass, held on June 13, features some of the best in bluegrass and Americana music. Americana songstress Nora Jane Struthers will headline the day-long music festival. Nora Jane celebrates her most recent album, Wake, which has garnered rave reviews from fans and media alike.

On August 8, Blues & Brews brings some of the world’s best blues artists to one stage. Headlining Blues & Brews this year is Selwyn Birchwood, blues’ next rising star. Selwyn just released his debut album on Alligator Records, and folks are starting to take notice. “Watch out for Selwyn Birchwood…a genius revelation and a pleasure. Roaring Fender Strat and down-south lap steel guitar…” (Blues Matters).

Entering its ninth year, and produced in partnership with Swallow Hill Music, the music festivals have become a neighborhood tradition. With music paired with some of Colorado’s favorite breweries, the question remains – is it a music festival with really good beer or a beer festival with really good music? Full music line-ups are listed below.

BrewGrass: Nora Jane Struthers, Dead Winter Carpenters, The Ragbirds, Blackberry Bushes String Band, Halden Wofford & the Hi-Beams, Blue Grama

Blues & Brews: Selwyn Birchwood, Markus James, Chris Daniels & the Kings, Delta Sonics, Michael Hornbuckle, Rachel & The Ruckus

Nate Todd

Nate Todd was born on the central plains of Nebraska, but grew up on the high plains of the Texas panhandle. With not much to do in either place, music was his constant companion. His parents dubbed the first two albums he ever owned onto a tape for him. Side A was Bert and Ernie’s Sing Along. Side B was Sgt. Peppers. His lifelong love affair with music started early as he practically grew up in a Rock & Roll band, with his father and uncle often taking him out on the road or into the studio with them. Nate began performing live at sixteen and hasn’t looked back, having played in numerous bands from L.A. to Austin. At the age of twenty he was bitten by the writing bug, and upon moving to Denver decided to pursue a degree from Metropolitan State University where he recently graduated with a B.A. in English and a minor in Cinema Studies.
