NATHAN HALL’S GHOST LIGHT

August 16th-27th
Boettcher Concert Hall
Tickets: Box Office Only

Denver Theatre District announced that they have commissioned Ghost Light, an immersive orchestra-sized sound work, creating an electro-acoustic collage of mystery, wonder, and sound dimensionality by Colorado composer Nathan Hall.

Hall composed the piece specifically for Boettcher Concert Hall; guests will be able to lie down on the floor of the stage while music plays throughout the hall. Hall is also teaming up with Denver band Landlines, percussionist Luke Wachter, a quintet of classical musicians from the Playground Ensemble, and Pittsburgh-based experimental musician Dave Bernabo to offer special evening performances that supplement the sound piece with live music. Boettcher Concert Hall is located within the Denver Performing Arts Complex.

David Erlich, Executive Director, says, “The DTD is thrilled to help host Nathan’s incredible project and transform Boettcher into a unique, immersive experience.” “It’s a challenge to compose music for such a vast space”, says Hall. “I wanted the sounds of the piece to swirl in a mist, mixing everything from classical orchestra music to electronic beats”.

Ghost Light runs from August 16-27 with timed, ticketed entry. Special evening performances occur on Aug 17, 20, 23, and 27. Tickets will be purchasable on axs.com and at the door.

Nate Todd

Nate Todd was born on the central plains of Nebraska, but grew up on the high plains of the Texas panhandle. With not much to do in either place, music was his constant companion. His parents dubbed the first two albums he ever owned onto a tape for him. Side A was Bert and Ernie’s Sing Along. Side B was Sgt. Peppers. His lifelong love affair with music started early as he practically grew up in a Rock & Roll band, with his father and uncle often taking him out on the road or into the studio with them. Nate began performing live at sixteen and hasn’t looked back, having played in numerous bands from L.A. to Austin. At the age of twenty he was bitten by the writing bug, and upon moving to Denver decided to pursue a degree from Metropolitan State University where he recently graduated with a B.A. in English and a minor in Cinema Studies.
