Desert Daze 2017 Lineup Promises A Magical Weekend In The Desert!

Featuring the likes of Iggy Pop, Spiritualized, Courtney Barnett, and Kurt Vile, Desert Daze 2017 line-up is one of it’s best yet, and promises a magical weekend in the desert.

A short 6 years since it’s inception, Desert Daze has solidified itself as the leading experimental music and art festival in the US, exhibiting their strongest and most compelling lineup of bands, installation artists, and films to date, for it’s second year in one of the most unique venues on the planet: The Institute of Mentalphysics in Joshua Tree, CA.

Desert Daze is what would happen if you’re favorite analog-purist DJ decided to spin a set with the actual bands instead of tapes and records, complete with tangental listenings of Sleep’s HOLY MOUNTAIN performed in its entirety. Ty Segall and the Freedom BandBADBADNOTGOOD, Cigarettes After Sex, and The Gories will join the lineup of legends and contemporary envelope pushers, already including Spiritualized, John Cale, Courtney Barnett, Kurt Vile, Thurston MooreThe Make-UpHope SandovalUnknown Mortal Orchestra, Eagles of Death MetalKing Gizzard & The Lizard WizardAriel Pink, Terry Riley, Boris, Allah-Las, and many many more.

Opening Ceremonies will be conducted by the man, the myth, the supernatural rock n roll strategist, Ian Svenonius of The Make-Up and Chain and the Gang, who will bless the proceedings and set the intention for the weekend, as night falls on Friday, the 13th.

Mystic Bazaar programming has been announced as well including performances by Miranda Lee Richards, Entrance, Big Search, Imaad Wasif, throat singer Li Daiguo, and more.

Cristopher Cichocki – Circular Dimensions will evolve all weekend in Sanctuary Hall w/ Special Guests

On Thursday night, campers, cottage folks and Super Duper VIPs will be able to check out DJ sets from John Dwyer, of Oh Sees and special guests TBA.

Prescott McCarthy, Meika May Ginsburg, Non Plus Ultra, Oliver Hibert, Spencer Hibert, Dave Archer, Christopher Bettig, Dave Archer, Celeste Byers, Aaron Glasson, Moon Magnet, Future Eyes, Brad Hansen, Beck + Col, and more will fill the landscape with beautiful new art installations and familiar festival staples. More amazing art collaborators to be announced.

Danny Perez, Mustachio Light Show, Mad Alchemy Liquid Light Show, Billgazer, The Blindspot Project, and Cloaking will provide all three outdoor stages with projections all weekend long.

Sonic performances will run alongside panel speakers, curated daily film screenings, and the Mystic Bazaar’s daily schedule of metaphysical workshops.

The Institute of Mentalphysics, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and Son, founded by Ding Le Mei, a westerner turned Tibetan Monk, is the oldest and largest spiritual retreat center in the western United States. The beautifully maintained grounds of garden paths, fountains, labyrinths and captivating architecture rest atop a rare confluence of three underground aquifers and a measurable magnetic field which causes a palpable energetic effect on those who visit. Audience members have the chance of staying in one of Wright’s on site cottages, or camping under the vast, twinkling desert sky. Limited in capacity to provide the kind of personal experience that just can’t be had at larger festivals, you don’t just go to Desert Daze, you profoundly experience Desert Daze.
