PICK OF THE WEEK: STS9 w/ Snoop Dogg – Friday, September 9th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 2 min read

Why You Should Go: First of all, STS9 has become something of a staple on the Red Rocks calendar year in and year out and you should find out why.  This is their 9th summer performing at the majestic venue, and the shows have gone down in history as some of the best that the band has put on.  While this year’s run starts with a performance at The Ogden on Thursday night, and concludes with a Saturday night show at Red Rocks, Friday night is our Pick Of The Week, because the legendary Snoop Dogg is on the bill!

STS9 featured Thievery Corporation and Ghostland Observatory (a pair that nearly sold-out Red Rocks on their own a few weeks ago, see our photos and recap here) last year, and this year they have more than lived up to the high bar they set for themselves.  Snoop has been a mainstay of the Rap scene for 20 years, and continues to amaze fans with his smooth flow and electric stage presence.  A Snoop Dogg performance is something not to be missed, and at Red Rocks, it should be all the more memorable.

Music has always been a part of my life. It probably all started listening to old Grateful Dead, Peter Paul & Mary, and Simon & Garfunkel records that my parents had, but it wasn't long before they were taking me to concerts like Starship, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Huey Lewis & The News. I got the bug to write about music after reviewing an Eric Clapton concert for a creative writing project in high school but didn't really take it up seriously until 2002. Since then I have published countless articles in The Marquee Magazine and done some work for Jambase.com, SPIN Magazine, and various other outlets. I started Listen Up Denver! as a way to share the music information that is constantly spilling out of my head with people who care. Please enjoy!
