Elton John to Play Wells Fargo Theatre – April 12th

Estimated read time 1 min read

Sir Elton John will play the Wells Fargo Theatre on Tuesday, April 12th in a show that will benefit the Matthew Shepard Foundation.

A gay rights advocate, John seems like a logical choice for the show. John previously played similar benefits in Laramie in 1999 and 2009.

Elton last played Denver in February 2010, co-headlining with Billy Joel at the Pepsi Center.

“Sir Elton has stood up for equality and dignity for all people, for more than a decade, through his tremendous generosity to the Foundation,” writes Judy Shepard in the press release. “His benefit concerts in Laramie in 1999 and 2009 sustained our educational work, bringing hope and inspiration to the community. We are deeply grateful for his continuing support and for the example he sets for all of us.”

Tickets, $49-$149, are on sale Saturday, Mar. 5 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.

Music has always been a part of my life. It probably all started listening to old Grateful Dead, Peter Paul & Mary, and Simon & Garfunkel records that my parents had, but it wasn't long before they were taking me to concerts like Starship, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Huey Lewis & The News. I got the bug to write about music after reviewing an Eric Clapton concert for a creative writing project in high school but didn't really take it up seriously until 2002. Since then I have published countless articles in The Marquee Magazine and done some work for Jambase.com, SPIN Magazine, and various other outlets. I started Listen Up Denver! as a way to share the music information that is constantly spilling out of my head with people who care. Please enjoy!
