Fox Street All Stars to Support The New Mastersounds on March Tour

Denver, Colorado’s Fox Street All Stars are proud to announce they have been chosen as the support act on The New Mastersounds March 2011 Tour.  Coming off a US touring hot streak that’s included an ongoing Meters tribute with founding member Art Neville, an opening slot for Widespread Panic this past Halloween in New Orleans, and yet another buzzed-about Jam Cruise appearance in January, The New Mastersounds are quickly becoming known as the U.K.’s number one funk and soul export.

This 14 date tour comes at a great time for Fox Street All Stars who are riding high celebrating the release of their debut album Welcome to Mighty Pleasin’ (co-produced by Josh Fairman of Kinetix). They cut their teeth sharing Denver stages with groups like Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, and Blues Traveler and are ready to take their show national.  Fox Street has also made a name for themselves in the scene by orchestrating many memorable late night jams with heavy hitters like Stanton Moore of Galactic, Papa Mali, and Brian Jordan of Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe.

In the summer of 2010, Fox Street first crossed paths with The New Mastersounds when the two groups hit the road together for a series of successful shows in Jackson Hole, Sun Valley, and Salt Lake City and they are proud to be invited back. The March 2011 run will bring Denver’s own Funky Rock-n-Soul outfit to new crowds in Montana, Oregon, Washington, California, and Nevada.  The tour concludes with five shows back home in Colorado including stops at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom and The Fox Theatre!

“From the first note of Mighty Pleasin’ to the last, The Fox Street All Stars have proven that they can take their high energy stage show, inject some heartfelt ballads, and create an album that will please fans of funk, blues, soul and rock-n-roll alike. If their opening slot on funk legends The New Mastersounds tour is any indication, the Fox Street All Stars are a band that is poised to break through into the mainstream at any moment. In the meantime, they will continue to refine their chops and happily fill their role as Colorado’s favorite party band as they blow the roof off venues all over state.” Marquee Magazine (Boulder)

“For a debut album, this really is awe-inspiring work…” Mountain Weekly News (Crested Butte)

Music has always been a part of my life. It probably all started listening to old Grateful Dead, Peter Paul & Mary, and Simon & Garfunkel records that my parents had, but it wasn't long before they were taking me to concerts like Starship, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Huey Lewis & The News. I got the bug to write about music after reviewing an Eric Clapton concert for a creative writing project in high school but didn't really take it up seriously until 2002. Since then I have published countless articles in The Marquee Magazine and done some work for Jambase.com, SPIN Magazine, and various other outlets. I started Listen Up Denver! as a way to share the music information that is constantly spilling out of my head with people who care. Please enjoy!
