Zach Heckendorf’s Debut Record Out Today – CD Release Party Saturday at The Bluebird

Estimated read time 2 min read

After coming onto the music scene roughly one year ago, Zach Heckendorf is now set to release his debut album, The Cool Down.  The album, produced by Brett Dennen, allowed Zach to work with some fantastic musicians.  “Working with Brett, Zac, Pete, and Dave felt as comfortable as I could have asked for, and the final product is something that I am very proud of. I am beyond lucky to have worked with such intelligent musicians on my debut. I think this album is a beautiful first step to becoming the musician I want to be.”

The fact that Zach Heckendorf is only eighteen, and will graduate from Cherry Creek High School this week, is almost baffling.  Influenced by his father, Zach began playing the guitar at a young age and soon began experimenting with his own sound and style.  With a unique, soulful voice and masterful guitar playing to match, Zach is an exciting young talent with a bright future.

He released a demo in 2010 that created a buzz around Denver.  Following the release of the demo, Zach opened for John Butler Trio, played to thousands at Film on the Rocks and performed in KBCOs Studio C.

The CD Release party for The Cool Down will take place this Saturday evening at The Bluebird Theatre.  Details below.  If you’d like to win tickets to the show, we have a pair to giveaway, click here for more info.

Music has always been a part of my life. It probably all started listening to old Grateful Dead, Peter Paul & Mary, and Simon & Garfunkel records that my parents had, but it wasn't long before they were taking me to concerts like Starship, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Huey Lewis & The News. I got the bug to write about music after reviewing an Eric Clapton concert for a creative writing project in high school but didn't really take it up seriously until 2002. Since then I have published countless articles in The Marquee Magazine and done some work for Jambase.com, SPIN Magazine, and various other outlets. I started Listen Up Denver! as a way to share the music information that is constantly spilling out of my head with people who care. Please enjoy!
