Mason Jennings – May 10th – The Soiled Dove

Estimated read time 5 min read

Mason Jennings took up residence at The Soiled Dover over in Lowry for two nights last week. Listen Up Denver! was in the front row for the first show and we admit we are smitten with this amazing singer songwriter. Playing solo, Jennings ran through old and new favorites as he switched between guitar and piano and even took some time to tell the back stories on several songs. Shamelessly dirty at times, and hauntingly eerie at others, Jennings is capable of manifesting a different mood each time he strikes the first chords of a new song.

Split Lip Rayfield Talks Wakarusa And The Split Livers

Split Lip Rayfield is often described as a mix of bluegrass and country with an accent of metal. No other band delivers the experience of the homemade gas-tank bass, mandolin, and banjo. Together, these three men burn up speakers and stages alike as they tour and play music for the fan faithful. Mando player Wayne Gottstine recently took some time to share with us at Listen Up Denver! about the documentary Never Make it Home, The Split Livers, Wakarusa, and why we should come out and see them this weekend.

This up and coming trio is currently on a self booked tour, and their self titled album dropped today. Listen Up Denver! caught up with Pekarek recently to find out more about the new album, the tour, and the meaning of “Wakarusa.”
