DONOVAN Sunday, September […]
Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile and high energy old-time string band Old Crow Medicine Show are teaming up for a co-headlining tour that will find its way to Red Rocks this Sunday. Fans can look forward to a double dose of music, as Brandi and Old Crow collaborate on a handful of songs nightly in addition to performing separate sets. The chemistry between these bands is great, making this a night of must see music!
There are really only two words to describe these two legends: guitar gods. Beck of course got his start as part of the holy triumvirate of guitar players in the 60s blues based group The Yardbirds and Buddy Guy transcends the word legend and was a heavy influence on Beck and many other great guitar players. Coming out of the Chicago blues scene, Buddy played with Muddy Waters as a house musician for Chess Records.
While there were some ominous clouds hanging over Red Rocks as we climbed the stairs, and the sky opened up and lightning slashed across the sky stalling our entrance, it couldn’t put a damper on possibly the best overall bill at Red Rocks this summer. Even though we were momentarily barred entrance and in limbo on the stairs, everybody was in high spirits. When we finally got in we were treated to a spectacular double rainbow off to the west over directly over the stage. What does it all mean? It meant a golden night for Colorado music!
