Rob Drabkin, is definitely one of those people. Easily recognizable in the local music scene by his head of sky-high curly locks and infectious smile, Drabkin is kicking off the New Year by throwing himself his Annual Birthday Bash at The Bluebird Theatre tomorrow night.

Zen Mustache – December 1st – Jamestown Mercantile

The mention of a “cover band” often conjures up images of old dudes with long hair, bandannas and black leather vests unsuccessfully attempting to bring back the 80s. That said, one night of solid tunes at the strangely beautiful and exceptionally unique venue known as the Jamestown Mercantile by Boulder-based band Zen Mustache, and our views on cover bands were changed forever. This show was a lampshade-shaking good time.

The man has soul, and he found himself playing in front of a sold-out crowd at Oskar Blues Grill and Brew in Lyons on Saturday as the headliner of the popular Colorado brewery’s celebration of ten years of canning badass beers. We raised our glasses and crammed ourselves close to the stage as we devoured every word that streamed through the microphone.
