Elephant Revival – December 4th – Ogden Theatre

The Ogden was filled with flannel and beards for the opening night of a two night homecoming for Colorado’s own Elephant Revival — quite the feat for a band from the tiny mountain town of Nederland. The group expanded their whimsical folk music into extended bluegrass jams and topped everything off with aerialists twirling from ribbons strung above the packed crowd.

Elephant Revival – February 18th – Stage Stop

From the commercially huge Pepsi Center, to the historically landmarked Red Rocks, to the wooden lodge that makes up Rollinsville’s Stage Stop, us Colorado folk consistently do music right, and Elephant Revival is one beaming example of that fact. It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve seen Elephant Revival play, each time is pure “magic” and Wednesday night’s “secret show” proved that fact yet again as the band made the best of an opportunity to break in a new band member surrounded by the undying support of fans and loved ones.

Campout for the Cause – May 23rd – 25th – Rancho Del Rio

Rancho Del Rio was home to Campout for the Cause again this year. While over the years it had traveled downstream to the State Bridge venue, this year, founder and promoter, Scott Stoughton decided to return the festival to its roots by placing it back at the pseudo-shanty town/river paradise that sits against the back drop to the usually peaceful Colorado River. It didn’t turn out to be so peaceful this weekend, but we’ll get to that later.

Everyone Orchestra – November 16th – Cervantes’ Ballroom

When Everyone Orchestra makes a stop along the Front Range you can always count on a rousing good time and last Saturday’s Flood Benefit at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom showcased excellent musical theater and a community banding together in the wake of the devastating September floods. Everyone Orchestra is the brainchild of composer and vocalist Matt Butler, who brings together a different crop of musicians to jam and create songs for every run of shows.
