  • Following Tuesday’s “Evening With Soundgarden” at Colorado’s 1st Bank Center, it is clear that the nearly 15-year hiatus did nothing to hinder the band’s sound, chemistry, or performance.  What the hiatus seems to have done is strengthened both the band and its fanbase - Knights of the Soundtable.  It was readily apparent, (before the lights had gone down and the long-awaited Soundgarden took the stage), that for these fans, distance really had made all the difference.

  • Grateful Dead founders Bob Weir and Phil Lesh laid siege on the Colorado Front Range this past weekend with their band, Furthur.  The 4-night run of shows started with a single, intimate performance at The Ogden Theatre in the heart of Denver, an extremely difficult ticket to obtain, and then moved up to the much larger 1st Bank Center in Broomfield where no one would be shut out.  By all reports the run featured some great music.

Since they released their debut album in 1976 they have sold more than 60 million records. Between the Heartbreakers’ recordings and his solo work, Tom Petty has won two Grammy awards and been honored with numerous lifetime achievement awards.

Back then Welton Street was the place to be, with its clubs featuring musical greats like Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday.  Promoting a theory of the avant-garde, Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom and Cervantes’ Other Side strive to help the Five Points neighborhood reclaim its former glory and events like last Saturday’s shameless dance party with Juno What?! that have once again begun to expand the boundaries of Denver’s live music experience.

  • The Hi-Dive was packed on Wednesday night when we walked in with pretty high expectations for a mind blowing show.  To be honest it didn't quite live up to all the hype.  The mysterious, dark, brooding indie-folk of Other Lives sounded good but maybe they were saving something for the next time they come through this area with Radiohead where the big stage at the 1st Bank Center and all the power of a mega-sound system behind them will undoubtedly win them hundreds of new fans.
