The Denver based twelve piece Afrobeat ensemble Atomga fills the stage to overflowing with musicians, and fills each venue they play with a blend of Afrobeat, Jazz, and Funk. Playing Afrobeat standards, and a few originals, these guys rip through their sets with precision. In 1962 James Brown played The Apollo in New York City and a young Charles Bradley was there taking it all in. That show must have made a huge impression on the young man, because what I witnessed on stage on September 13th had the same energy and showmanship that I personally had only seen from the Godfather of Soul himself. He’s not the second coming of James Brown, he may be better!
