Last Saturday night, The Bluebird Theater served up an eclectic line-up of local bands that once again proved how deep the talent is in the Denver scene. With Atomga, The Pink Hawks, and Roka Hueka throwing down in one of the best venues in town, things got funky and the crowd ate it up!
Fresh off The Rolling Stones Zip Code Tour, which played 15 stadiums across the United States this summer, Karl Denson’s Fantastic Fall Tour is coming to Denver. In anticipation of his upcoming release in early 2016, Karl and his band The Tiny Universe, embark on a Nationwide run that will give new and old fans the chance to experience what is highly regarded as one of the best live bands on the planet.
For days, months even, before this show Facebook feeds all over town had been crackling with posts about D’Angelo from a “Who’s Who” of the Denver music community. From members of The Motet, to Analog Son, to Atomga, the whole scene was on pins and needles, just itching for show day to come. When the dust settled and the room had cleared D’Angelo had delivered what was easily one of the best performances of the year and a show that exploded into many fans “best of all time” lists.
For the past four years ATOMGA has been gettin’ bodies shakin’ and dance floors quakin’ with their progressive brand of Afrobeat. Having released their eponymous EP in early 2014, the 10-piece Afrobeat outfit is back with their first full-length album. The album—recorded by Josh Fairman at Scanhope Sound and mastered by Grant Phabao of Paris DJs—is titled ‘Black Belt’ and it kicks like a roundhouse to the face in the best way possible.
From their humble beginnings of being hailed “Denver’s newest party band” to the sophisticated praise of “specialists of authentic Nigerian Afrobeat,” Denver’s own world-funk outfit, ATOMGA is leading the charge in musical fusion with the release of their first full-length LP, Black Belt.

What can only be described as a super group of extraordinary proportions, Analog Son will be performing together at the Bluebird Theater this March 7th to celebrate the release of their sophomore album “Stomp And Shout.” The show will feature Nigel Hall (Lettuce, Soulive, Nth Power) and Jason Hann (String Cheese Incident, EOTO) along with a number of featured performers known both locally and nationally.
