The Listen Up Denver! crew rolled into Telluride with one simple intention: Do not take this for granted. We were in Telluride! Man, it was amazing! The weather was epic, the beer flowed freely and the music, oh the music. The footprints of musicians including Rich Robinson, Sharon Jones, and Otis Taylor dotted the stage throughout the weekend, and while the sun warmed the day, clear and starry skies cooled off the evenings and the dancing lasted till the wee hours of the morning.

Ranked in the top 5 most influential guitar players of all time, B.B. King graced the stage of Denver Botanic Gardens last Monday for yet another performance. The elegant garden venue seemed like the perfect fit for the legendary blues-man in the twilight of his career to be playing on what was a perfect summer evening. Also adding to the events activities was the ongoing Chihuly Exhibition throughout the gardens, giving concert-goers a sensory bonanza of entertainment, art, and beautiful vegetation.

B.B. King – August 20th – Red Rocks Amphitheater

Last week Peter Frampton’s Guitar Circus rolled into Red Rocks and it brought with it an eager crowd of Baby Boomers who were on the edges of their seats in anticipation of some serious guitar heroics. While there were some fireworks from opener Sonny Landreth and headliner Peter Frampton, the man many had come to see was a bit of a let down and the crowd was painfully aware of it. No it wasn’t that he couldn’t play those signature licks, it’s just that he chose not to.

B.B. King & Tedeschi-Trucks Band – August 30th – Red Rocks

Last Thursday night the mighty Red Rocks Amphitheatre was transformed into an intimate little Blues club as B.B. King and Tedeschi-Trucks Band tag teamed the venue. From octogenarian contemporaries of King, to their grandchildren, the benches at Red Rocks were packed with music fans of all ages who were counting themselves lucky to get to see the Blues legend at Red Rocks. While it was clear that King was the main draw, a healthy number stuck around to catch one of the tightest bands on the circuit today.
