Summergrind – August 16th – Gothic Theatre

On August 16th, droves of Denverites came out for the Punk/Ska/Rock extravaganza that is the SummerGrind festival. The one day event, featuring 25 bands spread across three venues on S. Broadway in Englewood, was jam-packed with great acts – including big names like Morning Glory, Reno Divorce and The Suicide Machines, and a whole deluge of amazing local acts, creating a perfect storm of musical mayhem. Though it was hot at the outdoor stage, the AC in the Gothic offered a welcome retreat into a whole other world of madness.

Slightly Stoopid & Cypress Hill – April 20th – Red Rocks

Ahh 4/20 in Colorado, you can smell it in the air! With the recent passing of Amendment 64 Colorado has become a hot spot for all things “4/20 friendly” and this past weekend was a prime example. From the first ever Cannabis Cup hosted on U.S. soil, to Snoop Lion’s performance Friday night, to this amazing line up; Colorado has taken their stance on recreational Marijuana use and the word is out. Last Saturday there was no better place to be than Red Rocks as Slightly Stoopid and Cypress Hill took to the stage to celebrate what appears to be our new state holiday.

Just about a month ago, the music world lost one the pioneers of Rap music. On May 4th, after a 3 year battle with cancer, Adam “MCA” Yauch of The Beastie Boys passed away leaving behind a huge void for Beastie Boys fans around the world. On Thursday of this week, MTHDS will be reviving their Beastie Boys tribute show to honor the memory of MCA and delight fans.

The Congress – May 4th – The Bluebird Theatre

The Bluebird Theatre was filled with southern charm on Friday night. The Congress may be local, but their roots reach clear across the country. Their home away from home is the South, and according to front man Jonathan Meadows, they “have a huge family from Virginia all the way to Mississippi.” Well those folks who saw them back East before moving out West sure are supporting them here in Denver! A truly powerful power-trio; The Congress put the pedal to the floor from the first note, and they kept it full throttle all night long.

Phish – September 2, 3, & 4 – Dick’s Sporting Goods Park

Phish landed in Colorado last Friday and threw an amazing three day party at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Northwest Denver. With a Friday night show that featured 26 songs that started with the letter “S,” a rock-n-roll packed night Saturday, and a stunning Sunday night filled with groove based jams, Phish gave it their all and left many phans speechless.
