Sonic Bloom 2015: A Family Affair at the Unified Field’s 10th Anniversary

This year marked the 10th Anniversary of Sonic Bloom Music Festival: The Unified Field. A strong sense of community and uninhibited creative license were the key points at this four-day music and art event. The festival took place at the foot of the Spanish Peak Mountains at Hummingbird Ranch from June 18-21, 2015, where Sonic Bloom Founder Jamie Janover’s hopes to see Einstein’s Unified Field Theory in action rang true.

The weekend at Sunrise Ranch included more than 100 musical acts as well as 100+ workshops, a deluge of artists, installations and crafters, a barrage of food purveyors, and of course, camping.With such a wide array of sensory delights to document, we thought it best to send a team to convey the full experience of Arise.

Global Dance Festival 2013 – July 19th – 21st – Red Rocks

The Global Dance Festival has undergone a transformation in recent years and now occupies a yearly and much anticipated spot on the Red Rocks calendar. With three days of high quality production and intense sound, Global has become one of the premier electronic festivals in the United States. This year, Triad Dragons Entertainment went with a more diverse sound and recruited a lineup that included: Ott, Emancipator, Beats Antique, Griz, Gramatik, Papadosio and Sander van Doorn.

ill.Gates – November 15th – Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom

ill.Gates has consistently been on the forefront of the EDM scene, both producing and educating upstart musicians throughout the last decade and last Thursday night he preached the good word of music to a willing congregation at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom on his Church of Bass Tour. Debuting his new light setup, he managed to run his own audio and visual at the same time, and kept the crowd bouncing for 2 hours of bass infused beauty. He is a man of bold sights, sounds, and ideologies and he did not dissapoint.

Beats Antique – October 27th – The Fillmore Auditorium

Beats Antique and Halloween were made for each other as both offer the chance to shed the normalcy of our society and let your freak flag fly. Colfax and the downtown area was overflowing with costumed people and excitement was at a fever pitch as the crowd approached The Fillmore. The Saturday night line-up offered a broad array of music from Dubstep to Hip-Hop to the eclectic grooves and beautifully mystical sounds of Beats Antique.

Thievery Corporation & Beats Antique – August 10th – Red Rocks

Thievery Corporation put on one of their strongest shows in recent memory at Red Rocks on Friday night. With the help of Beats Antique and an amazing set from the upstart Funk collective Afrolicious, the five hour party blended sounds from the Middle East, the worlds of Hip-Hop, Reggae, and Acid House to give that uniquely Thievery feeling to the night. They may not be the highest energy band out on the scene right now, but there is no doubt Thievery Corporation knows how to throw a party!

Wanderlust Festival – July 5th – 8th – Copper Mountain, CO

Gone were the pizza, deep fried Twinkies, and beer vendors of most festivals. Instead there were free veggie burger samples, coconut water, and fruit smoothies to be had. After all, the theme for this festival was mindfulness, and we were being encouraged to have an awareness of both our mind and body. Wanderlust festival brought the world’s leading yoga teachers, top musical acts and DJs, and renowned speakers to the mountains of Colorado to enlighten and entertain.

Wakarusa – Mulberry Mountain, AR – Part 2

It’s time for Part Two of the wonderful and wacky world of Wakarusa! Days three and four of the festival featured music from everyone from Matisyahu to Big Gigantic and while there were several massive thunderstorms, they didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd or our team of reviewers and photographers. Saturday morning kicked-off with a potluck breakfast and by the time Sunday evening’s epic rainstorm rolled around our team was already planning for next year!
