Ben Folds Five – January 23rd – The Ogden

Until last Wednesday night, it had been a very long time since Ben Folds Five performed in Denver. A packed house of hardcore fans were at the Ogden to witness everything that made Ben Folds Five so great: the short stories of oddball characters, the distinct vocal harmonies, Folds’ trademark prowess as a witty improviser and talented pianist, and even an impromptu rendition of the classic “Rock This Bitch” that delighted more than a few fans.

PICK OF THE WEEK: Ben Folds Five – Ogden Theatre – January 23rd

This is the first major tour in over a decade for Ben Folds Five. The band amicably parted ways shortly after the 20th Century’s end, eager to explore fresh terrain after seven years of intense concentration on the band. Now after thirteen years since their last album the band has released ‘The Sound Of The Life Of The Mind.’ Although all three members see Ben Folds Five carrying on for the foreseeable future, it would be ill advised to miss this show.

Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers – December 2nd – The Bluebird Theatre

Stephen Kellogg and The Sixers wowed a crowd of clean cut young professionals last Friday at The Bluebird. Their brand of pop-rock may not be overly complex but combined with a truly deep and unique connection to their fans, it made for amazingly entertaining performance. Kellogg interacted with the audience all night, telling stories and sharing himself through his songs and banter.
