Goose – December 7th – Old Town Pub
One of the big stories of the year in the jamband world has been Connecticut’s Goose. Simply put, the band is on a tear and are drawing sold-out crowds across the country. Is the hype justified?

Last Saturday night the Ogden Theatre brought us the greatest annual Halloween treat Denver has to offer – The Motet’s annual Halloween run – two weeks late. Though this year it was a bit past the holiday deadline, that didn’t stop the loyal fans of this local Funk band from stepping out in full force for what was dubbed as the “Hometown Hustle.” For weeks this show was the talk of the town, and the anticipation was sky high for the band’s rabid fans.
Billy Joel played an enchanting show this past Wednesday night at the Pepsi Center. The New-York bred musician brought together people of all ages who could be heard cheering and swooning like preteens at a Taylor Swift concert. The scene was pleasant and filled with people who were giddy to see the wonderful Entertainer. It was truly a night to remember, filled with classics and goosebumps galore. If you haven’t seen Billy Joel in concert, put it on your bucket list!
Whether it’s raising two kids, voicing over Cinderella, or singing in a band, Rachel Alena of the band, Rachel & The Ruckus is surely something. An inspiring story of a life in L.A. and a musical journey to Colorado is just the beginning. Rachel’s just getting warmed up! Rachel & The Ruckus, is a band you won’t want to miss at this weekend’s Firefly Autism “Road to Blues & Brews” at Park House. They play from 3:20 to 4:05.
Connor Kennedy can often be seen kicking around Woodstock, NY in his brown leather boots, digging through vinyl at radio station 100.1 WDST, playing a local bar with members of Gregg Allman’s band or The Levon Helm Band or playing organ alongside Donald Fagen of Steely Dan at The Barn. Wherever Kennedy is, or what he is doing, he is either absorbing the music of others, or creating his own.
On Tuesday night the Pepsi Center was a sea of denim, cowboy hats, belt buckles and short shorts. To say the atmosphere in the arena was electric as showtime approached would be doing a disservice to the thousands of buzzing fans who could barely sit still as they snapped selfies with the giant “G” that sat center stage on a huge digital cube. When it was all over Brooks had proven that he deserves the accolades that are showered upon him. He’s truly one of the greatest performers out there today.
The Walnut Room was packed for an acoustic night of music played by some of Punk Rock’s greatest doing a full night of acoustic performances. Several drunks were shushed during the show as it was a quiet room and at times hard to hear the performers over them. Despite the annoyance, the laid-back audience didn’t seem to care too much, they were just happy to see the Punk Rock superstar Joey Cape live in a piano bar or singer/songwriter type of setting rather than a raucous Punk club.
The Folks Festival at Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons, CO has always marked a high-point of the summer for many music fans, but last year, in early September, one of the most destructive floods Colorado had ever seen swept through the pristine grounds all but destroying this summer haven. For those who haven’t been yet, let us report, the ranch is not only back and operational, it’s better than ever.
YAMN is a rock band rooted in psychedelic jams, but the best way to convey what they do is to call them a “party band”…and they are probably one of Denver’s best. Their live show is far from predictable and their originals sound like they were created during vision quests in the desert. After a year long break from performing, the intensity of last Friday’s performance at The Bluebird proved that YAMN is back in a big way.
