Estimated read time 8 min read

The Listen Up Denver! crew rolled into Telluride with one simple intention: Do not take this for granted. We were in Telluride! Man, it was amazing! The weather was epic, the beer flowed freely and the music, oh the music. The footprints of musicians including Rich Robinson, Sharon Jones, and Otis Taylor dotted the stage throughout the weekend, and while the sun warmed the day, clear and starry skies cooled off the evenings and the dancing lasted till the wee hours of the morning.

Snowmass Mammoth Festival – June 14th & 15th – Snowmass

Estimated read time 6 min read

Combining great music, craft beer and food, this year’s Snowmass Mammoth Fest featured the likes of Xavier Rudd, Leftover Salmon, Les Claypool’s Duo de Twang, Chris Robinson Brotherhood (just to name a few), a tasting from over 25 breweries and a chili cook-off. One of the best things about Mammoth Fest was that there was never a tight crowd. There were rolling hills around us and a herd of horses in the pasture beside. There was a little bit of something for everyone.

Robinson, whose other band, The Black Crowes, is taking a break after a solid year of touring, played to a packed house both nights with his bandmates Neil Casal, Adam MacDougall, Mark Dutton and Geaorge Sluppick. The bluesy, laid back rock band only repeated a couple of tunes over the two night run and mixed a few well chosen covers into the mix.

Guitar virtuoso John Scofield showed off his impressive chops on the axe last week when he brought The John Scofield Uber Jam Band to the stage at the historic Boulder Theater. Guitarist and sampler Avi Bortnick, drummer Luis Cato, and former Gov’t Mule and Black Crowes bassist Andy Hess, who make up the rest of the Uber Jam band were equally impressive and a truly great fit around Scofield’s mastery of so many different styles of guitar playing.

For four years now, Fox Street All Stars have been funkin’ it up into the wee hours of the morning at Pete’s Monkey Bar after the Galactic Mile High Mardi Gras throwdown at The Fillmore. This year things have changed a bit. As expected, Fox Street followed suit and will be holding court this weekend at Pete’s on both Friday and Saturday nights.
