There’s no doubt that fall was in the air at Red Rocks on Tuesday night as the outdoor concert season drew to a close in Colorado. Fans from 18-70 dug fleece and down out of their closets made the trek out to Morrison to spend one last evening under the stars, singing along with two of the best in the business: Tom Petty and Steve Winwood.

Telluride Bluegrass. Once you’ve been there, whether it’s for a day, a week, or forty consecutive years, it becomes part of you. It’s the smiles on the faces of the performers as they look out from the stage over the most beautiful landscape their songs and melodies have ever echoed across. It is the meticulous, almost anal-retentive, organization of the event that somehow translates to a vibe conducive to dancing and singing and a passionately laid-back attitude from some of the most fervent music lovers anywhere.

The energetic crowd at Steve Winwood’s Paramount Theatre show proved they were no fair-weather set of fans last week. They were the real deal and they were at the Paramount Theater to show their collective love for this amazing musician. With a timeless sound that has transcended genres and also many generations, Winwood performed a spectacular show. He gave the crowd exactly what they wanted, a fun night filled with hit after hit and a twinge of nostalgia.
