Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube had all of Comfort Dental Amphitheatre dancing their butts off on Friday night with a little help from supporting acts Bone Thugs NHarmony, E-40, and Tha Dogg Pound. All-in-all Snoop and Cube set out to do a couple things. First was to turn people on to their music and second was to try to turn Comfort Dental Amphitheatre into the biggest party in Denver over the weekend. Mission accomplished!
Star Slinger played a well thought out and very danceable set last week at The Larimer. To say the crowd was “going off” would be a vast understatement. It was, as they say in Hip-Hop culture, “live,” and we forgot it was only a Tuesday night many times. Let’s hope he decides to come back to Colorado much more often. His sounds are so fresh, unique, and eclectic that he could breathe some new life into the Front Range scene.
Producer and guitarist Kevin Donahue, and bassist Andrew Clymer, have played in countless bands together over the last several years, including a recent stint performing with Bizzy Bone from Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, but they grew tired of playing other people’s songs. Looking for something new, they ended up forming Electronic Hydro Funk band SunSquabi. They were kind enough to sit down with us after their opening set for Juno What?! last Saturday night at Cervantes’, check out what they had to say.
For the past few weeks a huge buzz was building steadily, on the internet and the street, for Big Gigantic’s run of Colorado shows that culminated with a massive throwdown at The Ogden on Saturday night. Being that both Dominic Lalli and Jeremy Salken have been well known in the CO music scene for a while now, and with the recent release of “Nocturnal,” it was no wonder everyone was so damn excited. The Ogden was an absolute sweatbox, but the boys delivered!
