Orebolo – December 14th – Boulder Theater

Orebolo, the acoustic offshoot of the wildly popular jamband Goose, set up shop at the Boulder Theater last Wednesday and left the capacity crowd in awe. Featuring Rick Mitarotonda and Peter Anspach on guitars and Jeff Arevalo on stand-up bass, the trio presented stripped down versions of Goose songs with a focus on intricate guitar interplay between the two stellar players. The crowd was full of rabid fans, with the line forming hours before the doors opened.

Marcus King – February 14th – Boulder Theater

Marcus King and his dynamite band brought the El Dorado Tour to Boulder Theater last weekend for the first time since they graced the stage last summer after Dead & Co. played Folsom Field. The theater was packed to the gills for the Valentine’s Day show, and the lovebirds (and everyone else in the house) were not disappointed.

Gov’t Mule & moe. – August 25th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Last Thursday’s late-summer evening with Gov’t Mule, moe. and Blackberry Smoke was a highly anticipated date on the Red Rocks calendar. As fans arrived, the more overtly branded Mule fans heavily populated the crowd. Not to be discounted: moe.’s summer tour has been choked full of great performances and wild energy so there was plenty of anticipation in the venue for the New York rockers that split the bill.

Sam Beam & Jesca Hoop – June 7th – Boulder Theater

Sam Beam, better known by the moniker Iron & Wine, returned to Colorado Friday night, in support of his latest album Love Letter for Fire, a collection of duets with singer-songwriter Jesca Hoop. Flannel clad Gen X’ers filled rows of chairs well before the start of the show in anticipation of the intimate evening. The stage was barricaded with a large collection of table lamps of various shapes and styles, creating a house show vibe in the thousand person venue.

Yonder Mountain String Band – January 1st – Boulder Theater

Bluegrass fans were very excited for night three of Yonder Mountain String Band’s Boulder Theater run, which included Jerry Douglas and a long list of fun and surprising 80s cover songs. Allie’s silly fast fiddle reminded us she is more than vocals, and the entire band reminded us why they can hold the attention of the Boulder Theater four nights in a row.
