Greensky Bluegrass – March 13th – Boulder Theater

Greensky Bluegrass returned to Colorado for a three night run at The Boulder Theater this past weekend and it proved to be one for the ages. Friday night’s dance party featured sit-ins from Adam Aijala of Yonder Mountain String Band and opener Rayland Baxter as the band raged through a monster two-set show that featured some treasured originals alongside a slew of crowd pleasing covers.

Elvis Costello – March 1st – Boulder Theater

People of all ages filed into the sold-out Boulder Theater on a frigid Sunday night to see Elvis Costello on the first stop on “Detour”, his 2015 solo tour. The variety of people represented in the audience reflected not only Costello’s undisputed legacy and longevity, but also his status as a cultural icon. For many, Costello is a touchstone through which memories and relationships can be explained and returned to once again.

Wood Brothers – February 20th – Boulder Theater

The beloved trio that is known as the Wood Brothers never fails to bring out all the steps, guiding their audiences to gut-wrenching, overwhelming elation as they play and sing and dance to heaven – as the angelic and insanely talented musicians that they are. Us folks down in the Front Range were treated to the most intimate of the weekend Wood Brothers shows last snowy Friday evening. Chris and Oliver Wood, and drummer Jano Rix, have as much on-stage charisma as a 7-piece band, and thus inevitably had the Theater rockin’ all night long.

Railroad Earth – January 22nd – Ogden Theatre

It was one heck of a weekend with the guys of Railroad Earth, who were in town for their annual January run in Denver. Three jam-packed shows of Railroad Earth’s incandescent music made for yet another one of the greatest weekends in the Denver live music circuit. If anyone knows how to throw a great show, it is those six strapping lads of Railroad Earth – top-notch guys, unparalleled musicians, and some dang impressive entertainers.

Yonder Mountain String Band – January 1st – Boulder Theater

There was no better place to be than at the Boulder Theater on the first evening of the New Year. YMSB’s show was one of those shows that is simply unlike any other, an unforgettable, irreplaceable night of creativity and chemistry. Having gone through quite the transition in 2014, the band has persevered, and thus gone on to create such incredible music paired with truly magical moments, such as the one that occurred last Thursday at the Boulder Theater.

The Head And The Heart – August 14th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

An extremely long line of fans trailed down the road behind the scenic Red Rocks Amphitheatre last Thursday night for a first-rate show that nearly didn’t come to fruition after a severed power line cut power to the historic venue. Though the show was pushed back an hour, fans were in high spirits and the show that followed was more than worth the wait.
