Grace Potter & The Nocturnals – October 26th – The Fillmore

Estimated read time 6 min read

If you combine Grace Potter’s decade of touring, the fact that she just happens to be blessed by the hand of god with a fine physical appearance, and her balance of raw and soulful vs.radio friendly songs, well, she can pull just about anybody out to a show and she proved that on Friday night at The Fillmore with the turnout and the diversity of the crowd. All ages and all walks of life came out for various reasons, but everyone wanted to get down…and we did just that. All damn night.

Rocky Mountain Folks Festival – August 17th, 18th, 19th – Planet Bluegrass Ranch, Lyons, CO

Estimated read time 13 min read

I think it’s become a goal of the team up at Planet Bluegrass to out-do themselves from year to year with the line-up of the Folks Festival. While last year featured headliners Jackson Browne, The Weir Robinson Greene Trio, and Brandi Carlile, this year brought Iron & Wine, Amos Lee, and Lyle Lovett to the intimate stage by the river in Lyons and each one mesmerized and surprised as they entertained the sold-out crowd.

Brandi Carlile – July 14th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 9 min read

Brandi Carlile’s progression as a musician over the last seven years, from Colorado’s most intimate venues to the world’s best outdoor venue has been meteoric. Her path has included four studio albums, endless touring (including a symphony tour), good ol’ fashion fan engagement, two live albums and an unrelenting, and unmistakable, drive to stay true to herself. If Carlile’s first headlining Red Rocks show is any indication of what’s next for her, there is little doubt that whatever it is, it will be special.

PICK OF THE WEEK: Gregory Alan Isakov & Reed Foehl – Friday, December 23rd – The Gold Hill Inn

Estimated read time 2 min read

Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, Gregory Alan Isakov’s song-craft lends to the deepest lyrical masterpieces. With hints of his influences, Leonard Cohen, and Iron & Wine, Isakov has been described as “strong, subtle, a lyrical genius” and has shared the stage with touring artists such as Calexico, Mumford & Sons, DeVotchka, and Brandi Carlile. Reed Foehl will join Isakov on this intimate pre-Christmas bill.
