  • Music is all about connectivity. It is nothing short of miraculous how human beings called musicians create vibrations that mingle together to forge cohesive (or dissonant) sounds that then float through space and time to find the ears of other human beings who in turn interpret what they hear through words, dance, and visual mediums creating a web of interconnected thoughts and ideas that spread out into the universe infinitely.

  • Last Saturday night at Cervantes' Other Side the usual Denver Jamband suspects were out in force to groove to the tunes of the “daddies and granddaddies” of the Jam scene: Phish and the Grateful Dead as DeadPhish Orchestra delivered two monster sets of favorites culled from the catalogs of both seminal jambands. From "Birds of a Feather" to a perfectly executed "You Enjoy Myself" and "Birdsong" to "Cumberland Blues" these boys proved yet again they've got the chops.

  • Portland Americanagrass rockers, Fruition posted up at The Other Side last Friday night for a WinterWondergrass warmup. After last fall’s opening slot on the Greensky Bluegrass Fall tour closing run at the Gothic, it’s no surprise Cervantes’ Other Side was packed. While many of them were most likely newer fans, many were singing along with the band on every song. The front of the room was full of energy, and the whole night had a great vibe.

  • Brooklyn band Yarn made a stop at Cervantes’ Other Side last Friday evening and brought with them vibrant personality and energy, igniting a smallish crowd of devoted “Yarmy” that traveled from as far away as Utah and Pennsylvania to see their favorite band perform. Since their inception in 2007, Yarn has become one of the hardest touring bands of this generation. The band’s sound straddles the divide between Bluegrass, Americana and Jam; the result is extremely pleasing to the ears and the soul.

  • Cervantes' Other Side just be made for funky, soulful music, and considering the history of Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom, maybe it was. The presence of Robert Walter’s 20th Congress soaked the walls with more soul. The night had a special meaning for local openers Fox Street Allstars, whose bond as a band has been solidified by trips to New Orleans Jazz Fest in search of Jazz, Funk and Soul. Lead guitarist James Dumm excitedly stated, “we have been listening to this band since we were 16. This guy means a lot to us.”
