But, by the way he danced around the stage, filled the room with song, and simply rocked the hell out, you would have never been able to guess.he is one of the best songwriters to have ever come out of the Nashville music scene and his songs have been covered by everyone from Bob Dylan to Iggy Pop. Andrew Bird – August 15th – Chautauqua Auditorium

Estimated read time 5 min read

Andrew Bird is a musical genius in every sense of the word. His understanding of sounds far outshines that of almost anyone else on the scene. Artists often work looping machines and play multiple instruments, but never like this. He builds the songs one piece at a time with a hand as steady as a surgeon’s. He captures your attention with not only his sounds, but the words that accompany them. This show was easily one of the musical highlights of the summer!

Throughout his two hour performance, Ritter was nothing but smiles as energy poured out of him and dazzled the crowd with songs like the opener “Monster Ballads,” “Rumors,” and “Right Moves” that featured the band teasing Dire Straits “Walk of Life” as the song drew to a close . . . and that was only the first half hour. As the crowd filled the night after the show there were ear to smiles on faces of all ages and people were already talking about the next time they would get to catch Ritter and his infectious live performance!

A modest crowd gathered at Chautauqua in Boulder Saturday evening for the return of two young local bands. Both Paper Bird and Tennis hail from Colorado and this marked their first experience with the “musical theater” that is Chautauqua auditorium. It was certainly a beautiful evening and the hallowed auditorium transported the crowd to a different era. It is calm, quiet and played a brilliant host to the angelic vocal talents that Paper Bird and Tennis both possess.

Weir, Robinson, Greene Trio – June 4th – Chautauqua Auditorium

Estimated read time 5 min read

Despite the hordes of people who filled the beautiful park that surrounds the old barn under the Flatirons in Boulder, Monday night at Chautauqua proved to be the listening session stop of the group’s three night Colorado run. The 19th century room was the perfect setting for this trio to strut their stuff and each of them commented on it at least once from the stage. When it was all over they had truly rocked our souls. The power of music is undeniable and Bobby, Chris and Jackie delivered a show won’t soon be forgotten.
