Sting & Paul Simon – February 11th – Pepsi Center

Last Tuesday saw a bill at The Pepsi Center that made Baby Boomers for miles around weak in the knees with excitement as legendary musicians Paul Simon and Sting joined forces for the first time in their illustrious careers. Grey haired couples who held hands and closed their eyes as they sang along with Simon’s early hits and groups of women in their mid-forties coo’d at Sting’s ripped physique and Reggae inflected melodies.

Reverend Horton Heat – December 30th – Gothic Theatre

The lineup for the Reverend Horton Heat show at the Gothic on the last Monday was eclectic: a local Rock band (In the Whale) kicked it off, followed the Bluegrass Punk band from L.A. Old Man Markley. Of course, the main course was left to “the Godfather of Psychobilly” himself, Reverend Horton Heat. The variation of music was perfect, (Old Man Markley stole the show), and longtime fans enjoyed several songs from Heat’s upcoming album “Rev.”

Paul Simon – October 26th – 1st Bank Center

Paul Simon and his “So Beautiful, Or So What,” tour stopped at the 1st Bank Center on Wednesday and the evening found Simon and his band in fantastic form. While it took a few seconds to get the sound ironed out during the opener, “Boy In The Bubble,” once they had it dialed in, Simon’s voice sounded as good as ever. During the two hour show, the legendary songwriter and his 9 piece band took us on a magical journey through the depths of his catalog.
