Gary Clark Jr. – April 6th – Ogden Theatre

Estimated read time 3 min read

Two nights, two sold-out midweek shows at The Ogden for Gary Clark Jr. and his band. Tickets were hard to come-by on the street and beer lines were long in the venue. This Texas guitar god has been on the scene for several years now and the crowd that flooded the mid-sized theater on Wednesday was a varied mix of people of all ages and walks of life. As we waited for Clark to appear, the air was buzzing with an energy usually reserved for weekends.

Tedeschi Trucks Band – July 25th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 2 min read

Last Friday night Red Rocks was the nexus of the universe for Blues lovers. With both Gary Clark Jr. and the Tedeschi Trucks Band on the bill, the hallowed Morrison venue rang with slide and echoed with deep bluesy riffs late into the night. Early on it wasn’t the Blues, but rather the sweet vintage alt-country stylings of Nicki Bluhm and the Grambers that kicked things off as showers moved in and out of the area.

While the venue is still a work in progress, both groups were tight as they ran through swinging originals in their own sets and a great cover of Chuck Berry’s “30 Days” to wrap up the night together. eTown was the place to be last Tuesday!

Mason Jennings – October 27th – The Boulder Theater

Estimated read time 4 min read

The Boulder Theater was filled with star eyed lovers both young and old, indie-folksters, and only a few young men that looked like they might be more at home at a fraternity kegger when Mason Jennings stopped in. The evening passed with a continual ebb and flow of energy that matched Jennings extensive catalog as he swapped keys for strings and even threw and Auto-Harp into the mix near the end of the show.

Furthur – October 1st – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 6 min read

Furthur set up shop at Red Rocks for three nights this past weekend and unfortunately Saturday nights show was a bit on the sloppy side. While the song selection was pretty good and featured some gems from the Dead catalog including “St. Stephen,” “Dark Star,” “Playin’ In The Band,” and “Uncle John’s Band,” the band literally seemed to be on different sheets of music at times. Sure we all had a good time, but I guess I was just expecting more
