Estimated read time 2 min read

Denver’s own Fox Street has been missing from the scene for much of 2016. From the way lead singer and guitarist Jonathan “Skippy” Huvard tells it, things were pretty close to over for the R&B and blues saturated party band earlier this year before they were offered a landmark two night run at the Bluebird Theatre for New Year’s and they decided to band together and throw a party for the ages.

The self-titled record marries percussive grooves, which have always been central to St Germain’s sound, with a new element: traditional Malian music.

Moon Taxi – November 5th – Gothic Theatre

Estimated read time 4 min read

November is one of the best months for live music in Denver and this past Thursday night was a perfect example as Nashville-based indie/jam rockers, Moon Taxi, returned to the Mile High City. The quintet has seen a steady rise in their Denver fan base since first playing Moe’s Original BBQ almost 10 years ago. After that show lead singer Trevor Terndrup saw the Gothic marquee and said “One day, we will get to play in a place like that.” Thursday night was the realization of that dream.

Dance Party Time Machine – November 14th – Ogden Theatre

Estimated read time 6 min read

From the Delorean parked out front to Marc Brownstein performing the narration on “Thriller” as the show wound to a close, last Friday night’s long-anticipated Dance Party Time Machine was a major, bad-to-the-bone success. A vast majority of Denver’s local Jam, Rock, and Funk music scenes were represented, with musicians taking turns on-stage throughout the duration of the Dance Party’s 4-hour throw-down. Denverites should feel lucky to have such incredible performers, artists, and musicians living in our midst.

Revenge of the 90’s III – March 30th – Cervantes’

Estimated read time 6 min read

The 90’s were back in full force on Saturday night at Cervates’ as J2G Live threw their annual 90’s Night party with some of the best musicians in Denver doing the heavy lifting. There were tons of costumes that confused the best of 80’s fashion (Neon) with the best of 90’s (Flannel) and a ton of girls even got their hair crimped for the occasion. It was great to see people getting so into the spirit of the party and it was clear that 90’s Night grabbed a firm foothold in the Denver music scene in it’s third year.

Lotus – September 8th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 6 min read

It’s been over a year since Lotus stole the show on a bill with The Glitch Mob at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. This time they returned in full force as the headliner at one of the last and most anticipated shows of the legendary venue’s summer concert series. It was a show that mined the depths of the Lotus catalog and revealed a stunning new cover that served as one of many peeks of an outrageously high energy show and poured even more fuel on the fire under this massive dance party.
