Jason Isbell & Hard Working Americans – July 23rd – Ogden Theatre

Estimated read time 4 min read

The Ogden Theatre is one of Denver’s best mid-size concert venues, and it was the perfect setting for this highly anticipated Rock n’ Roll double feature of The Hard Working Americans and Jason Isbell. It is intimate enough to get close to the bands, but big enough to feel like more of an “event” than your average rock club. The evening was packed with rowdy Rock n’ Roll, dramatic balladry, and a fair amount of psychedelic exploration thrown in for good measure.

Jason Isbell & Hard Working Americans – July 22nd – Boulder Theater

Estimated read time 3 min read

Hard Working Americans made their return to The Boulder Theater last Tuesday evening after their debut performance in December. This time the show was augmented by a full set from Alabama singer-songwriter Jason Isbell. Though the one constant in the venue was the heat and stagnant air that made it feel like Alabama in July the music would prove to be gritty southern fried Rock n Roll at its finest.

Mickey Hart Band – May 17th – The Ogden

Estimated read time 4 min read

While Hart isn’t the most followed of the Dead members, and the half-full Ogden proved that last Thursday, there were still fans of all ages in attendance. From the opening notes of “Samson and Delilah,” to the closing strains of “We Bid You Goodnight,” the band was on fire and loving every minute of playing together. Long after the show was over the words Hart said at the end of the first set rang true: “I told you it was going to be good, now you gotta go tell your friends what they missed!” How right he was!

Jerry Joseph & Wally Ingram – December 8th – The Bluebird Theatre

Estimated read time 6 min read

It was quiet at The Bluebird Theatre last Thursday night when Jerry Joseph & Wally Ingram were on the bill, but it was far from dead. Walking in to the sparsely attended show gave us the feeling of crashing a private party. Everyone seemed to know each other and there was a looseness and intimacy to the entire evening both onstage and off. Throughout the evening the duo focused on a stripped down and raw sound that seemed to come straight from the gut.
