Old Crow Medicine Show & Brandi Carlile – August 14th – Red Rocks Amphitheater

A beautiful Sunday night show at Red Rocks boasts incredible vocals from Washington native, Brandi Carlile, followed by some Tennessee bluegrass from Old Crow Medicine Show. Changes to sound and stage set up brought a new energy to an old show and allowed for the band to show off their new country sound.

String Cheese Incident – July 15th & 16th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Good vibes dominated the scene when String Cheese Incident returned to their home court at Red Rocks last weekend for a three night stand. Kind souls with smiling faces abounded, some were decked out in their best Steam Punk attire, others in fairy wings, and still others in sequined capes. It’s was a carnival for the senses and while the music from the headliners was a little uneven, openers Kamasi Washington and Tauk were incredible.

The Ogden Theatre was home to a Bluegrass bonanza on Saturday night, and everyone was getting down! The combination of the Travelin’ McCourys and Keller Williams brought out lovers of all types of Bluegrass, and the musicians brought out the best in each other. String Cheese Incident fans, Bluegrass traditionalists, dready hill people, good ol’ boys, and Festivarians all danced the night away as a stage full of well-loved musicians whipped together a perfect set list for a fun loving Colorado crowd.

Béla Fleck & The Flecktones – April 8th – The Ogden

For many an ideal Easter Sunday evening would be spent around family in the comfort of a living room, but for lovers of all things awesome in the music world, the perfect Easter Sunday would be spent listening to world class musicians blow minds. Luckily for the fine folks of Denver, this opportunity was reality last Sunday when Béla Fleck and The Original Flecktones took over The Ogden Theatre and put on a concert that left many a jaw firmly planted on the floor in complete amazement.

Sam Bush – April 6th – Quixotes’

On Friday night, Quixotes’ was packed with hippies, flannel shirts, and grey haired music lovers from all walks of life who all came out to see the “King of Telluride,” Sam Bush. The entire venue was wall to wall all the way out the door towards the patio and there were even a few folks standing on the couches near the back and craning their necks for a better view. Bush nodded to Banjo legend Earl Scruggs, covered Leon Russell and threw a good ol’ fashioned hootenanny that made this Good Friday a really good Friday.

.357 String Band tore it up in front of a modest crowd at The Larimer Lounge on Monday night. Their sound was an infectious blend of Punk and Bluegrass that had some thinking, “this must be what it would sound like if Earl Scruggs developed a crack problem and began collaborating with Motorhead.”
