Lucent Dossier Experience – June 11th – Fox Theatre

A large crowd of young and old, Burning Man veterans and curious lovers of psychedelia packed the Fox Theatre in Boulder on a casual Wednesday evening last week to partake in the spectacle that is the Lucent Dossier Experience. The Fox may not have been the best venue for a performance of this size but it certainly provided for a serene view of Lucent Dossier’s acrobatics and stylized choreography. The crowd was treated to silky dance, thunderous Dub-Step and gorgeous costumes that rival Empire of The Sun for sheer audacity.

Passion Pit “Special DJ Set” – January 25th – Summit Music Hall

The Summit Music Hall filled to a healthy level fairly early last Saturday as fans of Massachusetts-based Indietronica group Passion Pit gathered to see what their “Special DJ Set” was all about. Unfortunately, the set, which consisted of two members of the group DJing, fell short on many fans’ expectations–an evening of Deep House is hardly what someone sees when they read the words “Passion Pit Special DJ Set” on a ticket. The music was great if you are into House music, but in some way, the whole evening seemed to be a bit of a ruse.

The String Cheese Incident – December 29th – 1stBank Center

The air was thick with hype as the 1stBank Center filled to a healthy volume early last Sunday. Smiling fans of The String Cheese Incident poured in the doors as the locally-loved band prepared for the second night of their three-part NYE run armed with The Flaming Lips as an explosive opening act and the horns section of Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe and other special guests during the main act. Together, the varied acts offered a ticket that offered spectacle, musical variety, and amazing talent.

Empire of the Sun – October 29th – Ogden Theatre

On Tuesday, Electro-Glam-Pop duo Empire of the Sun delivered a massive performance to a sold out Ogden Theatre. Since their first show in Colorado in 2011, the group has become become well known for their amazing live performances which are rich with lavish, high-fashion, futuristic costumry, psychedelic video installations, and intricate stage choreographies. Shortly after the doors opened, the house was packed and the audience was bustling with anticipation.
