For the past four years ATOMGA has been gettin’ bodies shakin’ and dance floors quakin’ with their progressive brand of Afrobeat. Atomga – April 26th – Cervantes’ Other Side

Estimated read time 3 min read

Cervantes’ Other Side was filled with funk last Thursday night when local Afrobeat-Funk-Jazz 11 piece Atomga, joined up with Michigan based Funktion to get the weekend started early and keep the crowd moving ’till late in the night. Considering Atomga has only been around for a year or so, it was a great turnout, and I think they stole quite a few people from the Devon the Dude show over in Cervantes’ Ballroom. Denver loves it’s Funk, and Atomga will no doubt be a name that this town knows much better in the near future.

Estimated read time 4 min read

Saturday night’s Pimps Of Joytime show was the kind of show that makes you want to jump on tour with a band, the kind of show that wins over legions of fans, and hopefully the kind of show that gets a band invited back to a venue real, real soon. From the get go it was clear that expectations were high, and the band delivered with a two set performance that was heavy on the funk and cranked the temperature in the room up a few notches.
