By the time Cage The Elephant took the stage the Ogden was on fire; you could feel the crowd’s collective will was ready to rock. The band wasted no time, and lead singer Matt Schultz had the crowd eating out of his hand by the end of the first song. The stage presence and sheer emotion that poured from the stage had every hand in the air trying to grab their rightful share.

James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem recently stressed that making people dance is axiomatic, remarking, “It’s like food – if they’re not eating it, you’ve screwed it up.” U.K. band Foals obviously got the memo, taking Denver back to the basics at the Ogden Theater last week. A mixed crowd of glittered faces, hoodies, and retro victory roll hairdos braved the rare rainy Denver evening proving that if dancing is fundamental, it’s also universal.
