Marcus King Band – June 8th – Fox Theatre

Estimated read time 1 min read

Due to recent events and the catastrophic loss of some of our greatest artists, the music community needs to look to the future. Judging by the mind-melting performance last Thursday at the Fox Theatre, Marcus King is that future. His fantastic vocals and guitar chops led his youthful soul-dripping band to one of the best shows of the year so far. Tom Hamilton’s American Babies opened the show and really brought the goods as well.

Primus – May 15th – Fox Theatre

Estimated read time 2 min read

“Hello! We are Primus and we suck” was the start to one hell of a night at the Fox Theatre. The band is currently touring with the original lineup and playing with the balls of their younger years. The setlist was 90% old school, yet they played very few of the tunes fair-weather fans might expect like “Jerry was a Race Car Driver.” Instead they played some fan favorite, deep cuts, like “Frizzle Fry,” “Pudding Time,” “Here Come the Bastards,” “Groundhog’s Day,” “American Life,” “Spaghetti Western” and even “Bob.”

The String Cheese Incident – March 4th – Fox Theatre

Estimated read time 1 min read

The String Cheese Incident wrapped up a two night stand in the intimate confines of The Fox Theatre in Boulder on Saturday night with a show that delivered some old chestnuts in the form of “Walls of the Cave,” “Blackberry Blossom,” and a very fitting “Bigger Isn’t Better” alongside some of the band’s new materials like “Can’t Wait Another Day,” “Believe,” “Let’s Go Outside,” and the debut of the Hollingsworth penned “One and Only.” While the energy in the room was strong, when all was said and done, the show left this Cheesehead was longing for the days when the band headlined this room on their way up.

The Magic Beans Set To Kick Off Fall Tour With Opening Slot For The Disco Biscuits & Special Cervantes’ Show

Estimated read time 6 min read

For the Colorado-native, Nederland-local band that they are, The Magic Beans have quite the large and loyal following, and deservedly so. Known to fans as “Space Funk,” the Beans’ groove-grass sound is everywhere. From festivals like Groove, to Arise, to their very own Beanstalk, there is always room from that infamously mountainous sound that separates the Magic Beans from the rest.

Fruition and Grant Farm: A Meeting on the Mountain

Estimated read time 8 min read

It was a cold, snowy night in Nederland, Colorado. But the town was hoppin’ as it was in the midst of the annual Frozen Dead Guy Days festival. Over at Whistler’s Café The Grant Farm was getting ready to take the stage. Driving up to Ned in an old van was a then little known group of street performers turned club players called Fruition. While neither band knew it at the time, one of those cosmic crossing of the paths was about to take place. But it wasn’t all in the stars . . .
