Freddi Gowdy and Chris Daniels: The Birth Of Cool In Colorado

Estimated read time 12 min read

When a fresh, exciting band called Freddi Henchi and the Soulsetters — fronted by Freddy “Freddi” Gowdy and Marvin “Henchi” Graves — came to Colorado in the early 1970s, a young musician named Chris Daniels was blown away by the sounds they brought with them. Now, more than 40 years later, Daniels has teamed up with Gowdy to release a new album that presents R&B and Funk in the way that it was intended to be heard. Celebrate the release of “Funky To The Bone” with them this Saturday at Herman’s Hideaway.

Monophonics – July 19th – The Bluebird Theatre

Estimated read time 5 min read

For a Thursday night, or any night really, The Bluebird was sadly pretty empty when San Francisco’s Monophonics rolled into town last week. What that left those of us lucky enough to have made the right decision and hit the show, was plenty of dancing room, and boy, did we need it. Our guess is next time these boys come to town, they will draw a much bigger crowd as it is only a matter of time before word gets around that Monophonics is the real deal on the Funk scene.
