  • Victor Wooten's show at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom was less about the five-time Grammy award-winning bassist, and more about his “new band, new sound, and new experience.” Wooten, as promised to his fans, wowed the audience with dazzling solos but he also allowed his band to steal a piece of the stage and showcase their skills as well. As the band blended Funk and Jazz it soon became clear why this kind of musical exploration took place beneath a giant Disco ball.

  • Last Saturday night, The Boulder Theatre was a cozy hangout for not only young men and women who go to school in Boulder, but also for a steady stream of young adults from Denver and middle-aged folks from the foothills, all there to bounce along to the hypnotic beats from John Brown’s Body or to catch the latest music from longtime Boulder resident Kyle Hollingsworth.

  • The Motet's annual "musical costume" shows on Halloween have become something of an institution here on the Front Range with folks buying tickets early in the summer to make sure they don't miss out on the madness.  This year's run kicked off on the 25th, stopped in Denver for two nights at The Ogden before heading up to Vail and finally wrapping up last night in Boulder. When all was said and done it was a fun and funky show and while it didn't top "Funk Is Dead," everyone in the room had smiles on their faces to the bitter end.

In addition to usual suspects,they will be showcasing a trio of horns. The boys are certain that these are going to go down in Motet Halloween history as some of the most exciting and creative shows they have ever put together!

  • Collegiate Peaks Music Festival, now in its 6th year, may just be the best little known music festival of 2011.  This year a diverse line up of 14 bands took to the stage situated next to the Arkansas River and in the shadow of the Collegiate Peaks from July 28th – July 30th.  Staying with tradition, CPMF remains a celebration of Colorado by featuring some of the best bands from around the state. Additionally, the festival recruits an eclectic selection of touring bands from all over the US.
