Imagine a place where you wake up alongside a quiet river surrounded by rolling hills, views of snow-capped mountains in the distance, a brief walk to yoga and paddle boarding, live music in a very intimate outdoor venue, old and new friends everywhere you turn. Got it? Well, that’s State Bridge. Some highlights for many of the festival goers included The Magic Beans, Fruition, Govinda, Mountain Standard Time, Whitewater Ramble, Ishi, and Jaden Carlson—a 12 year old guitarist and singer/songwriter from Boulder.
Back at the end of June, Shadow’s Ranch up in Georgetown was overtaken by 3,000 electronic music lovers, and yes, we do mean lovers. With a common theme of love and compassion running through the weekend, this year’s Sonic Bloom Festival featured some of the biggest names in the genre. Everyone responsible for making this festival happen are building a family based on the simplest of ideas that we all to often forget: have compassion for one another. It was truly a special experience.
Two weekends ago, Wakarusa, and it’s army of party people and music lovers, lit up Mulberry Mountain in Arkansas. With acts ranging from The Weir, Robinson, Greene Acoustic Trio, to the electro madness of Pretty Lights, the festival offered something for everyone. The Listen Up Denver! crew had such a blast that we are going to split our report into two articles. The first focuses on days one and two of the festival, and there is more to come. Read on to take a journey into the wonderful and wacky world of Wakarusa with us!
