The Ogden Theatre is one of Denver’s best mid-size concert venues, and it was the perfect setting for this highly anticipated Rock n’ Roll double feature of The Hard Working Americans and Jason Isbell. It is intimate enough to get close to the bands, but big enough to feel like more of an “event” than your average rock club. The evening was packed with rowdy Rock n’ Roll, dramatic balladry, and a fair amount of psychedelic exploration thrown in for good measure.
It’s been said that the musicians of New Orleans are all members of one gigantic band that breaks up into smaller groups on a nightly basis. If this were really the case, The New Orleans Suspects would be in a class all their own. The group is comprised of musicians with experience and versatility that rival any other band the city has ever produced.
Christmas arrived early at the Boulder Theater as the hallowed venue played host to a special debut performance from Hard Working Americans in the waning days of 2013. Hard Working Americans is the newest super-group to make headlines in the American music scene. The group is spearheaded by the sharp wit of singer-songwriter Todd Snider alongside bassist Dave Schools, guitarist Neal Casal, Chad Staelhy on keys and Duane Trucks on drums.
What do you get when you match a batch of incredible songs with an arsenal of five musical minds who have never played together working in unison to reinvent them? You get Hard Working Americans. A special debut performance of Hard Working Americans has been scheduled on December 20 at the Boulder Theater in Boulder, CO to benefit the Foothills Flood Relief Fund to assist victims of the recent floods that ravaged the area.

No more pussy footin’ around about it. Leftover Salmon is no longer on hiatus —that ended years ago. And this year they will officially shelve the “reunion” status they’ve been playing under since they started dabbling in shows again in 2007. No, in 2012 Leftover Salmon doesn’t need a qualifier for their status. For the first time since 2002, the band is simply that — a band — firing on all cylinders with a tour schedule of more than 60 dates lined up for the year.
For the 9th year, The Boulder Theater gathered a slew of the best musicians from the Front Range, and from the Jamband scene in general, for the annual “Mark Vann Foundation Benefit Concert.” Overall it was a very classy event put on for an amazing foundation. It is a great thing to see so many people come out and celebrate life while giving back to people who may not have the opportunity to celebrate themselves. The way music can bring people together, put smiles on faces, and brighten days, is truly spectacular.
