Gramatik – June 17th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Gramatik returned to Red Rocks Amphitheater with Hippy Sabotage, Sweater Beats, The Geek X Vrv and ProbCause for a thrilling Friday night affair. After last year’s ‘Blizzmatik’ event in which wet snow hammered fans and performers throughout the night, fans flocked to the sold-out rerun at Red Rocks on Friday night. This time around the weather was benign and the young-colorful crowd gathered in the parking lot before the show to laugh about last years’ fun and enjoy the sunset.

Big Gigantic: Rowdytown III – September 27th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Fresh out of Boulder, Big Gigantic has raged the Red Rocks stage three years in a row and Dominic Lalli made it a point to admire the audience, explaining that no other venue makes him feel quite this privileged. Who can blame him? This was the third annual Rowdytown, featuring Big Gigantic and we are happy to see them so grounded at their home in Colorado. Until next year!

The Floozies & Manic Focus – December 14th – Bluebird Theatre

The double feature of The Floozies and Manic Focus at the Bluebird Theater last Friday night led to a sold out show thanks to some last minute promoting by the GriZ family. There were few in the audience that had 21+ wristbands, which isn’t strange for these wompadelic shows. We all know that EDM is the outlet for the Y generation; however, this show brought even the youngest of the Z generation crawling to the front of the stage. Flat brimmed hats and glittered eyes were the staple of this evening’s attire.

Global Dance Festival 2013 – July 19th – 21st – Red Rocks

The Global Dance Festival has undergone a transformation in recent years and now occupies a yearly and much anticipated spot on the Red Rocks calendar. With three days of high quality production and intense sound, Global has become one of the premier electronic festivals in the United States. This year, Triad Dragons Entertainment went with a more diverse sound and recruited a lineup that included: Ott, Emancipator, Beats Antique, Griz, Gramatik, Papadosio and Sander van Doorn.

Snowball Music Festival – March 8th, 9th, 10th – Winter Park, CO

Driving into Winter Park on Friday afternoon was a 3mph parade of late teens and twenty-somethings already in neon accessories and ski gear, piled six deep in SUV’s on the way to one of the more unique electronic music events in the country, Snowball Music Festival. The police, who vowed to be less aggressive than last year, pulled over cars left and right as we made our way through downtown Winter Park to the condo. It was 4pm and the anticipation had everybody in full party mode before sunset.

Gramatik Talks Nikola Telsa, Music Piracy, and Amendment 64

Ableminds – Faces

After scoring opening spots for Bonobo and Signal Path as well as a set beside David Murphy of STS9 at Sonic Blossom this trio is beginning to craft a unique and sweeping sound which is no easy task in the world of improvised electronic music.

Big Gigantic “Rowdytown” – September 29th – Red Rocks

On a full moon night in early Autumn the young and the restless made their last Red Rocks appearance of the summer. The young crowd was decked out in full regalia and looking to cap off the epic summer of concerts on The Rocks. There was major buzz surrounding the headliner, local heroes Big Gigantic, and the touted visual display. The energy was palpable and the stage was set for a fantastic finish to the summer concert season.

Sonic Bloom – June 21st-24th – Georgetown, CO

Back at the end of June, Shadow’s Ranch up in Georgetown was overtaken by 3,000 electronic music lovers, and yes, we do mean lovers. With a common theme of love and compassion running through the weekend, this year’s Sonic Bloom Festival featured some of the biggest names in the genre. Everyone responsible for making this festival happen are building a family based on the simplest of ideas that we all to often forget: have compassion for one another. It was truly a special experience.
