Monophonics – July 19th – The Bluebird Theatre
For a Thursday night, or any night really, The Bluebird was sadly pretty empty when San Francisco’s Monophonics rolled into town last week. What that left those of us lucky enough to have made the right decision and hit the show, was plenty of dancing room, and boy, did we need it. Our guess is next time these boys come to town, they will draw a much bigger crowd as it is only a matter of time before word gets around that Monophonics is the real deal on the Funk scene.
The funky Meters – March 1st – The Fox Theatre
The Fox Theatre’s 20th Anniversary Celebration kicked off last Thursday with an electrifying performance from The funky Meters. With a line-up that reads like a “Who’s Who” of New Orleans heavy hitters, these guys have been funkifying the masses for over two decades now. The band does a fabulous job keeping the spirit of The Meters alive and well as they bring those songs, and the sounds of New Orleans, to a new generation.
Hot Soup – April 29th – Pete’s Monkey Bar
Hot Soup tore up the stage last night at Pete’s Monkey bar with their Phish influenced jam style. This Boulder band has a lot of potential if they keep it up, and the talents of lead guitarist Matt Flaherty are very impressive.
