Chris Robinson Brotherhood – May 16th & 17th – Cervantes’ Ballroom

Estimated read time 1 min read

Denver’s Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom played host this past weekend to the Chris Robinson Brotherhood. Robinson, whose other band, The Black Crowes, is taking a break after a solid year of touring, played to a packed house both nights with his bandmates Neil Casal, Adam MacDougall, Mark Dutton and Geaorge Sluppick. The bluesy, laid back rock band only repeated a couple of tunes over the two night run and mixed a few well chosen covers into the mix.

Chris Robinson Brotherhood – July 13th – Cervantes’ Ballroom

Estimated read time 5 min read

Friday night at Cervantes’ with Chris Robinson’s new band? Yes please . . . these two things seem like they fit hand in hand. While the show was mellower than expected, that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. The band put together two sets of music that showcased their skill and range as artists as they drew on tunes from their recent album, an upcoming one, and of course a few tunes recorded by The Black Crowes. In the end, it was a fun night of music orchestrated by one of the masters of his genre.

Fox Street Allstars & Broken Tongues – December 16th – Cervantes’

Estimated read time 5 min read

Broken Tongues and Fox Street Allstars flipped the “Holiday Season Party Switch” into the ON position on Friday night and left everyone with a smile on their face. While Broken Tongues took us all on Funky Hip-Hop adventure that showcased tracks off their recent release “Crooked Skyline,” Fox Street Allstars cooked up a musical gumbo that is spiced with the sounds of New Orleans and has the aroma of the south. The room was on fire but we just let the mother burn and kept full glasses of beer on hand in case we needed to extinguish the flames.
