Empire of the Sun – October 29th – Ogden Theatre

On Tuesday, Electro-Glam-Pop duo Empire of the Sun delivered a massive performance to a sold out Ogden Theatre. Since their first show in Colorado in 2011, the group has become become well known for their amazing live performances which are rich with lavish, high-fashion, futuristic costumry, psychedelic video installations, and intricate stage choreographies. Shortly after the doors opened, the house was packed and the audience was bustling with anticipation.

The Soul Rebels have built a career around an eclectic live show that harnesses the power of horns and drums in the party-like atmosphere of a dance club. Their weekly show at Uptown New Orleans spot Le Bon Temps Roulé has been known to descend into a sweaty shout-along as the band mixes up songs from its five studio albums with hits by Jay-Z and OutKast. De La Soul & Black Sheep – October 29th – Cervantes’ Ballroom

It was a hip-hop history lesson at Cervantes’ this weekend and we all got schooled. The place was packed, with bass thumping and bodies moving to the sounds of NY Hip-Hop from the early 90’s. Modern rap has gone a totally different direction than it was going back then this show made us all wish we were back in the day every Saturday! De La Soul has a uniquely positive and energetic sound while Black Sheep brought the classics and whipped the room into a frenzied explosion.
