Telluride Blues & Brews has grown from a niche, genre specific festival to one of the countries most well respected destination festivals. It has steadily gained recognition and the lineups are well thought out and hard hitting. If you are a lover of Blues based music, Funk, Soul, Rock, and Jazz then this is the festival for you. Congrats to Steve Gumbel on 20 years of realizing a vision, and thank you to Bill Kight, Courtney McClarey and the rest of the SBG Productions crew for making it all happen. Estimated read time 8 min read

This year’s Rocky Mountain Folks Festival featured marquee names like John Butler Trio, Patty Griffin and John Prine but it was the lesser known acts like Seryn, Foy Vance, Nathaniel Rateliff and Charles Bradley that really wow’d the faithful crowd. Word on the street months before the festival was that the organizers and staff of Planet Bluegrass were more excited by the acts this year than they had been at any time in recent memory, and they just may have been right on!

Jim James – May 9th – The Ogden

Estimated read time 5 min read

The Ogden Theatre was packed last Thursday for My Morning Jacket front-man Jim James’ first solo show in Colorado. James’ reverb drenched voice soared angelically to the deepest, darkest corners of the room and for the duration of the show one could look around the room and see expressions of wonder and bliss on faces off all ages as we all got lost in the experience together. It was a varied and inspired show that left everyone in attendence frothing at the bit for My Morning Jacket to return to Colorado in all their glory this summer.
