Justin Bieber – January 7th – The Pepsi Center
Monday night saw one of the most anticipated concerts of the year hit the Pepsi Center and it wasn’t some veteran performer taking the stage, it was a teenager by the name of Justin Bieber. The crowd that swarmed the arena was 80% teenage girls and the shrieking that filled the air at the very mention of the words “Justin” or “Bieber” was deafening. Frankly, it was reminiscent of some of the footage out there of The Beatles in the 60’s as they ran through screaming mobs of young women.
Taj Mahal Trio – May 18th – The Boulder Theater
The Boulder Theater was full almost to the rafters Friday night for Taj Mahal’s 70th birthday party. The historic venue hosted a stellar lineup that included many leading contemporary Blues performers. Keb’ Mo’ and Taj’s own daughter, Deva Mahal ( who tore the roof off the sucker with Taj’s trio) also took the stage during the evening. The Colorado Blues Society was in the lobby along with a special 70th birthday card for Taj that was signed by most of the audience.
