Glass Animals – September 25th – Larimer Lounge

Estimated read time 3 min read

Larimer Lounge, one of Denver’s favorite hipster-havens, played host to indie-rock quartet, Glass Animals, last Thursday night. To no one’s surprise, the up-and-coming band sold-out the small venue. Many were openly agitated by the lack of space, but once the music began, the humidity was embraced and the sweat began to drip. Dance moves ensued. Look out for these guys at The Ogden or Fillmore sometime in the near future.

Estimated read time 5 min read

It’s a bit of a drive for most of us out to the lovely city of Broomfield, but when the second annual Levitate Festival brought the likes of DJ Shadow and RUSKO, along with local producers Paper Diamond and Picture Plane, together on one stage, it was an easy drive to make. Bass rocked the walls of the small arena throughout the night and, as is becoming more and more common these days in the electronic music world, the visual displays were nothing short of extraordinary with Shadow’s “Shadowsphere” stealing the show.

Big Gigantic – January 21st – The Ogden Theatre

Estimated read time 5 min read

For the past few weeks a huge buzz was building steadily, on the internet and the street, for Big Gigantic’s run of Colorado shows that culminated with a massive throwdown at The Ogden on Saturday night. Being that both Dominic Lalli and Jeremy Salken have been well known in the CO music scene for a while now, and with the recent release of “Nocturnal,” it was no wonder everyone was so damn excited. The Ogden was an absolute sweatbox, but the boys delivered!

Pretty Lights – August 13th – Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Estimated read time 9 min read

Saturday night marked the return of one of Colorado’s favorite producers and electronic music artists to the Red Rocks Amphitheater. Derek Vincent Smith, better known as Pretty Lights, is a native of the Front Range and never fails to bring out a massive crowd of vibrant color wearing, glow stick tossing, beat enthusiasts to his shows. Smith has come so far in such a short amount of time and after Saturday night, I can only imagine what he has in store for the future.
